Benefits of octyldodecanol for your lips.

Octyldodecanol is a texture enhancer that gives lips a soft and smooth appearance.

Octyldodecanol is found in many cosmetics and beauty products and is a plant-derived lipid produced from the reduction of natural fatty acids. You'll especially find it in lip balms because of its hydrating and barrier-forming properties that lock in moisture and help heal dry lips. Additionally, it is known to be an anti-inflammatory that can help reduce the appearance of redness and irritation.

Is octyldodecanol safe for my lips?

Octyldodecanol poses very little health risk as the molecules are too big to penetrate the skin and can’t be absorbed. Because of this, it's usually added to lip balms and cosmetic formulations as a texture enhancer as it's fine to use on sensitive skin.

Why we use octyldodecanol in our lip balm.

We use octyldodecanol to help bind our other ingredients together and give our All Day Lip Balm its silky feel. And because octyldodecanol acts as a lightweight emollient that sits on top of your skin an added benefit is it will also help give your lips a soft and smooth appearance.

We updated our formula in 2023 and swapped out octyldodecanol for organic almond oil as we found it to be a better and more natural oil.
